Dear new and returning customers,
We have made a few changes to our chick sales this year due to the influx of new backyard chicken keepers. Last year there was a population explosion in backyard chickens and for the most part we say FANTASTIC! However, there were lots of new chicken owners that didn’t quite know what they were getting in to. We don’t want to startle you with the entire back story but it wasn’t all pretty. In an effort to circumvent these issues moving forward we have instituted a few requirements to purchasing baby chicks. To all our returning customers, we appreciate your patience and understanding.
Chick n Bees takes placement of our chicks very seriously. If you are serious about your commitment and the welfare to these living creatures then Chick n Bees is here to help mentor and guide you through the process.
Terms and Agreement for Purchasing Chicks
By placing your online order for chicks you are agreeing to the following terms and agreements.
Chick and Bees reserves the right to not sell chicks to anyone at any time.
Requirements: Chick n Bees requires that every person purchasing chicks must take the “Baby Chick Course”. Register Here The cost of this course will be refunded when you pick up your chicks and present your certificate of completion. Everyone completing the course will receive a certificate of completion, please keep this on file somewhere so you can show proof in the future for purchasing new baby chicks.
Chick n Bees may request, at random, to see a picture of your brooder set up. This is for the protection of the baby chicks.
Chicks will not be released to anyone that does not have their chick supplies/brooder set up prior to picking them up. Please do not wait until the last minute, many chick products may become back-ordered leaving you scrambling to get your brooder together while the chicks wait in a cold box without food and water. For this reason we are requiring that all brooders be set up prior to the release of any chicks.
Release: Chicks will be released as soon as they are deemed healthy to go to their new home, usually between 5 and 10 days old. This is for your benefit. There is a greater chance of a new born chick falling ill and needing expert care in their first few days of life.
You will be notified via email (please check your junk mail) when your chicks are ready for pick up, your chicks should be picked up within 2 days of notification. If you cannot pick them up please contact us for chick sitting arrangements.
Vaccinations: All chicks are vaccinated for Marek’s disease only; we do not vaccinate for coccidiosis or anything else. Please note that the Marek’s vaccine is not 100% effective, and even vaccinated birds may later contract Marek’s if the disease is present on your property. Marek’s is very common in backyard flocks and can live for years in dander, even when no birds are present.
Sexing: All chicks are sexed as female unless otherwise noted. There is NO GUARNTEE that one of your chicks will not turn into a Rooster. Chick n Bees will provide a refund for the cost of the chick or if available a replacement of equal or lesser value. Chick n Bees will not “take back” your rooster, you will have to locate a home for him yourself. You can post your rooster to our Facebook page and share with friends and family.
Cancellation: Chick orders can be cancelled two weeks prior to their arrival date for a full refund. Cancellations less than two weeks will receive a 50% refund.
